Nicolai builds a road-racing frame. There are some who have thought
this scandalous, and others who have merely smiled knowingly. Of
course, this was uncharted territory for us and we knew that people
may greet us with scepticism and mistrust, but it is for this reason
that we gave it our best shot and submitted our frame to the testing-crew
of the renowned German EFBe institute. In January 2006, the EFBe
institute tested the Argon Road for its stiffness, together with
the top models of 11 competing companies. With a torsional rigidity
(stiffness between front wheel and rear wheel resulting in better
tracking) of 10.1 N/mm and a longitudinal rigidity ( ie – between
the BB and the wheels determining power transfer efficiency) of 156,3
N/mm, the Argon Road was the clear winner of the test. Due to this
high rigidity it is highly suitable for mountain rides and criterions:
On long, steep uphill all your energy is going into the wheels and
not deflecting the frame from side to side. And on fast carving downhills
the Argon Road really shows its strength, here you can win precious
seconds. It comes in 5 sizes and the option of a full custom spec
